Japanese manufacturer JDI custom VR screen designed to eliminate screen window effect
The reason why the VR box can't bring the real virtual reality experience is that the mobile phone screen is not designed for VR, so its resolution and refresh rate can't meet the VR requirement, which leads to the screen window effect. In order to eliminate this adverse effect, JDI, a well-known Japanese display manufacturer, is tailoring a VR screen with a 3.42-inch resolution, a resolution of 1440 x 1700, and a ppi of 651. Of course, it is not enough to simply increase the screen pixels, so the display also has a 90Hz refresh rate and a 3ms-6ms delay. This will increase the response speed of the screen and greatly reduce the blurring of moving objects. You can also see the obvious difference between the two from the picture below. JDI said the screen can be up to 800ppi, but they haven't revealed when the screen will be marketable. At this stage, the screen resolutions of PS VR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift have reached 90 Hz, and the difference between mobile VR and high-end head display is the screen resolution. But how to make such a high-resolution VR screen bigger and solve the problem of heat dissipation and battery life is an urgent problem for this technology.
